What is Reiki?

Reiki is a Japanese word which means universal life force energy. In the early 20th century, a Buddhist monk called Mikao Usui, developed Reiki as a system of healing. The flow of energy through all living beings has been recognised for thousands of years and Reiki allows us to connect to this spiritual energy flow. The Reiki connection brings you home to your true self and allows you to find your inner light.

Reiki, as a deeply relaxing and holistic practice, supports healing of all the parts of our being – physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual. When you are connected to Reiki you enter a space of deep peace where this loving energy releases energetic blockages and gently initiates the body’s natural ability to re-balance. When Reiki energy flows freely without blockage, we experience complete deep peace, inner balance and wellbeing.

Reiki is not based on any belief or faith. It is not a cult, a religion or a massage. Reiki is simply a natural gentle flow of healing universal life force energy. As our knowledge of vibrational healing and the benefits of energy work unfold, we are learning how Reiki healing works and how we benefit from it. It is like re-discovering our connections to the ancient healing properties of universal energy from Source. Reiki always works in service of the greatest and highest good.

The Reiki journey also involves integrating Reiki Precepts into daily living and meditation. The precepts are principles or recommendations for thoughts and behaviours. The principles encourage us to live our lives in the moment as best as we can. The precepts are:

Just for today:
Let go of anger,
Let go of worry,
Be humble (grateful)
Be honest (act with integrity)
Be kind (compassionate) to yourself and others.

Benefits of Reiki

Reiki offers gentle self-healing of body, mind and spirit through connecting with universal life force energy. This connection is a life-long journey of discovery, adjustment and growth. Healing Reiki energy will always go to where it is needed for the “greatest and highest good”. In this sense, healing may not be freedom from physical or emotional pain or disease but it is about being with our individual challenges in a space of support, connection and compassion. Reiki meditation and self-healing sessions allow for greater clarity of mind and fine-tuned intuition. Regular connection with Reiki energy provides feelings of peace, calm and balance from where to engage with life.

The calming effects of Reiki can help to relieve pain, lessen anxiety and stress by bringing peace to the mind while balancing the body’s energy centres. The healing energy of Reiki flows freely to offer comfort and support on all levels of being:

  • On a physical level with chronic pain, treatment of various illnesses and post-surgery healing. Reiki can also be a support in struggles with insomnia.
  • On an emotional level with depression, anxiety, stress and worry.
  • On a spiritual level with feeling stuck in any area of your life and experiences of spiritual disconnection.

What to expect during a Reiki session

Reiki sessions are offered on-line via Zoom, in a one-to-one setting. As we work with Universal Energy that stretches beyond time and space, we can meet online and you will still receive the healing energy exactly as you need. Distance is only a physical limitation and therefore not an obstacle in energy flow and transmission. The additional benefit from an on-line session is that there is no travelling involved thus giving you time to integrate the rest and peace into your immediate surroundings.

During a Reiki session, the practitioner does not give their own energy away but is simply a channel for the energy to flow. People experience Reiki in different ways – some see beautiful colours and images; others may experience warmth/cold or a tingling sensation; some feel light and floaty while others feel heavy and grounded; other may feel intense emotion that can range from happy to sad. Some people, however, may not have any noticeable experience and that is fine too. It is important to always trust that Reiki will flow and give what you need for your highest good. Each person’s experience is unique and there is no right or wrong way to feel during a Reiki session.

Reiki Healing sessions involve connecting to and directing the flow of Reiki through the body’s energy centres and the body as a whole. Reiki always flows according to where it is needed but the practitioner can use intuition to focus the energy on a specific place of need. The Reiki healing sessions may also include balancing the energy centres in your body (chakras) through calming meditations. A single session may be an extremely relaxing experience for you and enough to gently reset your energy system. A series of three sessions may be more transformative with more sustained benefit. Regular connection with the flow of Reiki is an important part of self-care.

You can choose how you wish to proceed either through once off sessions or by booking a package of three sessions. To prepare for the on-line session please make sure that you have a comfortable place to sit and that you will not be disturbed. You may also light a candle if you wish. It is useful to have a glass of water handy for after the session. You will be briefed at the beginning of the session so that you know what to expect and there will be time for reflection at the end of the session.

All you need to do is relax and ease into the guidance of the session. From this relaxed posture you can open your heart to the flow of Reiki. I would love to support you on your own healing journey.

Reiki Healing sessions are 50 – 60 minutes log and the cost is £40 per session.

Important booking information

  • Sessions are on-line via Zoom.
  • Upon booking and after payment you will receive a video call link to your e-mail address.
  • You will need to download Zoom (free) before your session. You can download to your smart phone, tablet or computer.
  • I do understand that there may be occasions when you cannot attend a session. You are able to re-schedule a session up to 12 hours in advance. Failure to re-schedule or missed sessions are non-refundable.
  • Please ensure that you set uninterrupted time aside for your Reiki session.
